Moon The canine exudes love & help on Three-Pawed Kitten Peg

Moon the dog has a thing for kittens who need extra TLC. And little tabby kitten Peg needed serious love and care after losing a paw.

At ten days and weighing just 172 grams, Peg the kitten had to undergo surgery to amputate an injured hind leg and part of her tail. The procedure would save her from the infection that threatened to rage through her tiny body and kill her. But her young age made the operation a risk in itself.

Kate Hayes, Peg's vet and foster mother, knew that choices for the kitten were limited. But she saw something strong and bright in the little one. A wild will to survive. Surgery was the right choice for the little fighter.

"The only choice we had was to amputate her leg sooner rather than later because her leg was so badly infected and essentially starting to die to risk sepsis," explained Kate.

Kate was the youngest kitten to have surgery at Warwick Veterinary Hospital and was worried about Peg. "I honestly didn't think she'd be able to do it through surgery when she's so young and so small, but she did."

Dr. Fiona Smith and her amazing medical team, which includes Kate, did their magic and Peg was operated on like an "absolute superstar"!

Taking care of kittens with Kate, Moon has proven time and again to be the best foster father for babies who need a little more love. “When an animal is crying or sick, Moon stays with them and weeps with them. He's so nice, ”shared Kate Love Meow.

Regarding his status as a foster father, Moon told his Instagram followers, "Being a kitten father is very stressful."

Judging by the happy looks he and Peg wear together in all of their photos, it's easy to see that Moon loves his job and the little kitten.

Under Moon's care, Peg gained 60g in just four days and is "getting stronger every day."
