Coming Quickly: A "Canine Man" movie based mostly on Dav Pilkey's books
All dogs are basically superheroes, but a fictional one actually does this job. His name is "Dog Man" and he exists between the pages of a Dav Pilkey graphic novel series. Perhaps you have already read some or all of the books, considering how popular they are. All 9 books in the series became number 1 bestsellers, and over 40 million copies were printed (huge for a graphic novel series).
If you're not familiar, here's a quick rundown: The series from Pilkey, who also created the Captain Underpants books, features a dog / person hybrid dog man waging the good fight. A logline from the Dav Pilkey official website reads:
"When Greg the police dog and his cop are injured at work, a life-saving operation changes the course of history and Dog Man is born. With a dog's head and a human's body, this heroic dog has a real nose for justice. But can he resist the call of the wild to answer the call of duty? "
The canine superhero Dog Man works with his friends Li & # 39; l Petey, a friendly kitten, and 80-HD, an artistic robot. The crew passes the "Supa Buddies".

The Dog Man stories exist as part of the same universe as "Captain Underpants". To get a clearer sense of the world and style of Dog Man, check out this trailer for the books:
About the upcoming film
It's official: a film about Dog Man is in development. Peter Hastings, who previously worked on Animaniacs and Pinky And The Brain, will direct the film version of "Dog Man". He seems to be a good fit for the job and has worked with writer Pilkey before. Hastings said:
"This is my second project based on Dav Pilkey's books and I am very excited to be welcoming his fun, clever, emotional and ultimately inspiring projects Dog man and do it in motion! Not just by telling the story, but by absorbing and building his great sensitivity and bringing it to the screen with deep respect for his millions of fans – because I am one of them. "

Dreamworks is the studio that brings us this adaptation and Scholastic is the editor of the series. Kids really love the books (and Dog Man), but adults can enjoy the goofy humor and heart as well.
There is no announced release date for the film yet. Until then, a 10th book will be published on March 23rd to surprise the fans. I look forward to seeing more of Dog Man and his "Tongue of Justice".
